Our new house

Here's our new house. Yes the grass is a bit dead but it has been a bit scorching this summer.
We had a huge storm last week. I was at a meeting up at Booragoon and the sound of the hailstone coming down on the building was well scary. Driving back from the meeting was terrifying. The sky was black and it was torrential rain. Debbie was driving...........we would never have got home if it had been me! The hailstones up in Perth were the size of tennis balls and hundreds of cars got smashed up as they came down. Round where we live we just got the torrential downpour and some amazing thunder and lightening that went on for a few hours. The sun has come out again now though thank god.
So.......back to the house. Simon has finished Maya's bedroom, the big family room and one of the bathrooms. Next job is to paint the spare bedroom ready for Linzi and Mark's visit with little Harry. There's still lots we want to do to the house but it's great and we love it.
We've all had a stinkin rotten cold for the past week. I'm the last one to suffer it. I feel like death warmed up. In fact I think I'll have an early night. Night Night. x

Home sweet home!

Got the keys on Friday lunch time to our lovely new home. Have spent all weekend moving in (in scorching temperatures!). Thanks to the Fitzes and the Perks for your help xx We absolutely love it. After months of living in the rental next to a busy main road, our new house is so peaceful and tranquil. Montebourg Meander is a lovely street, palm trees everywhere. We even have one in our front garden. There's a area of parkland at the end of the road with a large pond and jetty, little playground and barbecue area. The park leads up to the back of Maya and Nathan's school so they can now walk to school by only crossing one road. Woke up Sunday morning, looked out of the window and a bunch of ducks were playing in the sprinklers in the garden over the road. Beautiful!

Not impressed though that a big ugly stick insect lives in our garden just near my washing line!! Totally freaked me out yesterday!

We've moved all the furniture in and the place is looking like home. Simon has already started painting Maya's bedroom (the Kiwi's who lived here before have a strange taste in colour!). We have bought a new fridge which fits better in the kitchen so our big american fridge is now going in the entertainment area outside.....biggest beer fridge ever!!

We are going to a big swimming pool expo on Sunday at Claremont where, hopefully, we will be placing our order for our new pool. Hope to get that installed towards the end of Autumn.

Going to be a bit sad over the next couple of weeks as I'm going to miss two big milestones back home. It's Linzi's 21st next week and then a few days later on Mothers Day Harry is getting christened. Mother's Day in Australia is celebrated in May but it's the week before Linzi arrives! Bugga!! Never mind, we'll celebrate everything we can think of when they get here.

Enjoying a few days off work, watching Simon doing all the hard work. Suppose I better pick up a paintbrush tomorrow and do my bit. I'll post a picture of the house when I can find my camera leads......still a million boxes to unpack!!

Thursday 18 February 2010

Well it's getting closer to us getting the keys to our new home and all the decorating and DIY that comes with it, so last weekend we decided to chill out and spend the weekend in holiday mode. On Saturday we got the train into the city, browsed round the shops, went on the big wheel with spectacular views. Then after a walk around the river front we headed back to Port Kennedy and round to the Fitzy's with Stacey and Andy for a barbie! Sunday was really hot so we went down to Point Peron beach to cool off. Got a secluded spot all to ourselves and were only disturbed by a huge pelican!

Today Maya fainted at school, probably the heat and not enough water. Unfortunately she fell face down and has bruised and cut her face. She feels fine now though but looks like she's been in the wars a bit.

Nathan has started dance classes!! He goes to hip-hop street dancing classes with Luke. It was their first one tonight and at last we seem to have found something that Nathan is really enthusiastic about! He loved it and can't wait to go back next week.

Still no sign of any rain............lovin the heat!

Sunday 7 February 2010

Yeyyyyyyyy! We got our settlement date!! We move into our new house on the 26th February!! Only 3 weeks and counting. So pleased!!

Just wanted to say a big hello to my 3 stalkers, Debbie, Chrissy and Flo. Would have thought that you would be busy 'living the dream' but as you're clearly not, feel free to carry on reading about my great life...........hope you get one of your own one day!

Sunday 31 January 2010

Another fun filled weekend! It was Gareth's 40th birthday on Friday. We bought him a camera and he was chuffed to bits. Yesterday Gareth, Simon, Andy and Glenn all went to a REAL pub in Baldivis. There aren't many proper pubs round here so Simon thought it was great! Last night was the big party round at Debbie and Gareth's. Had a great time. Debbie hired a huge bouncy castle for the kids. Loads of people came and Gareth got spoilt to death with some great pressies and one not-so-great pressie that became the butt of our jokes for the rest of the night! lol.

We got our mortgage approved on Friday as well so we should be moving into our house in a few weeks. Can't wait........renting is crap!

Me, Stacey and Debbie are going on a girlie weekend away at Margaret River in a couple of months. We've been planning it for over a month and are finally going to get it booked this week! Can't wait. Stacey is a lovely girl and an absolute scream. It's going to be brilliant!

Linzi's flights are all booked and paid for. Her, Mark and little Harry will be flying out to us in May. We will be well settled in the new house by then. I'm so excited. I've already bought the travel cot, highchair and pushchair.

Anyway, gotta go.........need to meet Stacey at Deb's house to choose which accomodation we want to book! Let the good times roll............xxx

Happy Australia Day!!!

January 26th is Australia Day so we all got a day off work (on a Tuesday!!) Arranged to spend the day with the Fitzes and Stacey & Andy. We all went down to Dolphin Quay at Mandurah and sat on the boardwalk watching the boats go by while the lads (and Stace) had a few pints of cold lager. Then we all headed off to Silver Sands beach for the rest of the day. The police were passing as we were dragging our eskies on to the beach and asked Andy if we had any grog. Andy told them the eskies were full of egg sandwiches, yeah right!..........the police warned us that no grog was allowed on the beach and then drove off. Had a great time with the kids in the ocean. Lots of fun. Ate our picnic, drank the grog, splashed about a bit more then packed up to go back home at teatime. A lovely day, spent with lovely people in a lovely place. Happy Australia Day!
